VDP Buttons

This article will detail the two types of VDP buttons, as well as how they are set up and function by default. It will also make some recommendations on ways to potentially override or change the buttons as needed.

Types of VDP Buttons

There are two “types” of VDP buttons, also referred to as CTAs or Call to Action. ICC lists these as “Buttons” and “Links.”

Buttons are the larger, more colorful buttons, and Links are the smaller, less obvious items below.

Available VDP Functions

There is a specific list of the default buttons that the VDP can have. Some are, by default, included in the Buttons list, and others are by default included in the Links list. However, the two are interchangeable, and you can use either one in either section.

The list is as follows:

GLP (Get Lowest Price)

Pops up a form that sends a lead to the dealer requesting a better “hidden” price for the unit. This feature has several settings in regards to how it displays and which units are marked with it which can be found in the Setting Up GLP and Adjusting GLP Settings articles.

Contact (Contact Sales)

This by default pops up a simple contact form that allows the user to contact the dealership. The unit that this button is clicked on will be included in the lead the dealer receives so they know which unit the user was contacting them from/may be interested in.

Changing Default Button Order

To change the default button order, all we need to do it utilize the Button Layout and Link Layout fields.

To change them, navigate to the dynamic-inventory-detail page in the domain in question, and go to the Advanced tab. There, you will see some options as you scroll bot Button Layout and Link Layout.

Next to each of these fields, there is some text that describes the default order that these buttons will show up in. If there is no text in the field next to this, it means it is following the default layout.

Button layout default order: glp,contact,makeoffer,requestinfo

Link layout default order: paymentcalc,creditapp,sendtofriend,printpage,brochure,windowsticker

To change the order from the default, all we need to do is use these terms to input an order that matches the change we want to make. For example, if the dealer wanted to move the “Make Offer” button to the top of the order, we could change the button layout to makeoffer, glp, contact, requestinfo.

Hiding Default Buttons

To hide a button from the page, the best way to do so is to simply exclude it from the list of current buttons.

For example, if the button layout is set to the default of glp, contact, makeoffer, requestinfo but the dealer wants to remove the Make Offer button, we would simply add glp, contact, requestinfo into the field, thereby instructing the list to not include makeoffer.

Another example – if the dealer has an existing setup that is NOT the default, we would also just go into that list and remove the button from that list. Example: If the dealer currently has their order set to pricedrop, requestinfo, contact and they want to remove the Contact form, we would change that list to just pricedrop, requestinfo.
