Overview:
When it comes to configuring the Google Ads Conversions, there are some defaults that are included including:
Conversion Source:
Google Hosted
All Primary and Not Account Default
Calls From Ads
All Primary and Account Default
Dynamic Call Tracking (If Setup Prior to This)
All Primary and Account Default
When GA4 Conversions and Audiences are Imported, they will import everything by default.
Conversion Source:
Website (Google Analytics (GA4))
All Primary and Account Default
Website (Google Analytics (UA)) - Old - Will Not See On New Accounts
All Secondary and Not Account Default
Audience (Google Analytics (GA4))
Example: Purchaser
Below is the steps to configure the Google Ads Account.
Steps:
You will want login into the proper Google Ad Account. Using the “Tool and Settings” Menu Option, you will want to click “Conversions” under “Measurement”.
You will want to first import the new GA4 conversions. You usually do this straight from GA4 Admin Panel for the Property.
This will import the conversion source of “Website (Google Analytics (GA4))”
Both Audiences and Conversion Events will be imported as Google Ads Conversions
For GA4 Audiences and “contact_click” GA4 Event Only
Remove as “Account Default”
Action optimization is set to Secondary
Dynamic Call Tracking AND Calls From Ads should be set up prior to this, so that should be populated already
Local Actions are Created by Default Including Store Visits as Well
These shouldn’t be “Account Default”
Action optimization is set to Primary
All Conversion Values are Not Set For All Conversions
They will count the number events
Will not assign dollar value
Double Check to See if Data is Flowing Correctly the Next Day
