V7 Deployment Procedures

Below are the standard procedures for the V7 Conversion process. For any and all issues. Please submit a support ticket via marketingsupport@dealerspike.com
NOTE: They are releasing stage sites on DEV boxes and the STAGE so want to make sure you use the STAGE link for this. It should match the folder in your FTP program.
SEO Procedures:
If you receive notification that a client of yours is undergoing a V7 transition, please be sure to take care of the below tasks within 24 hours of receiving the notification. If possible to complete sooner, please do. If you encounter issues, please ask a tier 2 or pod lead.
If you would like to view the stage site you can navigate to the trello card and locate the URL titled Staged URL.
There should be only one change to be made for a SEO client. We need to update the Global CSS file to work with the new system. You should have the old Global CSS file in place, so you just have to update the file name to the new version.
To locate the correct file:
Navigate to Notepad++ or whatever source code editor that you use.
Up in the top right hand corner of the window you’ll see what looks like a blue conch shell >
Click on that shell > Click on Stage > then hit the letter “v” to be navigated down to the bottom of the alphabetized list of clients.
Scroll down till you see a folder titled “V7Previews” and open this folder.
Locate the folder for the correct client you are working on - it will be titled something like “v7preview-clientname.
Ex. Brewer Cycles is titled v7preview-brewercycles
Once inside that folder, locate the folder titled “includes” and open that > locate StdHeaderStart.inc file and open that.
Inside the StdHeaderStart.inc file, you will have this below.
We want to replace the above with this:
Once the site has gone live, go in and check that your site looks normal in terms of the sizing of images, etc. If you see images that have not been correctly resized, the code may need to be added again to the live site. If you need help, please ask a tier 2 or pod lead.
If in the past you had images on this site that had been manually sized, you will need to go into the site once it is live and resize these images again.
Once you’ve finished the above be sure to:
- Reply-all to the email notification alerting the team that you have completed the V7 conversion steps
- Mark off SEO - QA Pass on the trello card
- Move the trello card over to the Ready for Live column.
SEM Procedures:
There is nothing on-site that should have to be done. All tracking scripts should work the same way. You may want to update your URLs in your Google Ads campaigns as all inventory list pages have new URLs.
Note: The old URLs DO work and they properly 301 to the new URLs, but you will want to change this anyways for the new URL structure.
