titleHow to Create an Up for Grabs Piece
  1. Add the file to the Content Up for Grabs folder in Google Drive

    1. Format the title as Vertical | Title

      1. If the piece is a pagefooter: Vertical | Title [pagefooter]

    2. For ARI content, add “(ARI)” at the beginning of the title

  2. Copy the link to the piece and add it to the Up for Grabs tab in the Dealer Spike Complete Re-Write Index or the ARI Re-Write Index

    1. In the Dealer Spike index, fill in each cell as you would with the same standards used for the Article and Pagefooter tabs, as directed in the Index Style Guide tab

    2. In the ARI index, fill out each cell in each column as directed by the column titles in the sheet

  3. Go into the document in question and thoroughly search for any citations of the dealership name and location in any variation.

    1. Replace them with highlighted [DEALERSHIP] and [LOCATION] blocks so they’re easy for the next writer to identify when inserting the new info.

  4. Also remove any references to specific geographies or other non-general references, including landmarks and weather references not applicable to most of our clients.

  5. Move the document to the appropriate Up for Grabs folder in the Writer Documents folder.

titleHow to Use an Up for Grabs Piece
  1. Review all available Up for Grabs pieces listed in the Up for Grabs tab of the Dealer Spike Complete Re-Write Index or the ARI Re-Write Index.

  2. Follow the link to the piece and make sure it hasn’t already been claimed.

    1. Check the folder it’s in, the presence of a dealer name and target locations, etc.

    2. If the piece has been claimed, either choose a different Up for Grabs piece or fill the request as usual.

      1. Also, remove the content from the Content Up for Grabs tab.

    3. If the piece is still available, continue to step 3.

  3. Rename the piece using the official file naming guidelines.

  4. Move the file into the proper dealer folder.

    1. Right click or File > move to > back arrow to Content Writing > choose the appropriate team folder (DS or ARI) > find alphabetical file > find dealer folder or create one if it is not present

  5. Remove the entry from the Up for Grabs tab of the index.

  6. Review the document and replace all the highlighted [DEALERSHIP] and [LOCATION] blocks with the correct info.

    1. Scan through the piece to ensure no other citations of the previous name or locations were missed by the person creating the Up for Grabs version of the doc.

  7. Thoroughly read the doc to ensure it matches the team’s current style and quality standards.

  8. In the ARI index, if the “Skip QA Column?” cell says yes, the piece can be submitted directly to publication, unless significant changes have been made.

  9. Check the keywords to make sure they are used appropriately. Adjust, add, or remove keywords as needed.

  10. When the piece is up to standard, post it to the Trello card as usual.

titleRecording Up for Grabs Content

If a writer creates a piece that is ultimately submitted to Up for Grabs, the writer should record their work as they normally do based on the format they filled.

  • Ex. If a writer creates an article they ultimately cannot use and need to put into Up for Grabs, that writer will still record the piece as an article.

If a writer uses an Up for Grabs piece to fill a request, they will record it in the Up for Grabs column in their tracker. This number still factors into daily and weekly totals.

  • If the writer made significant changes to fit the request, they may add the approximate word count to their total word count for the day. This is not required though, especially if minimal changes were made.
