Removing Popups

Determine the Type of Pop-up
This will help to figure out where to locate the pop-up. We need to know where the pop-up appears on the site. Is it just on one page? Is it on every page? Or only some? Each of these three categories have a different method of implementation and can be found in a different place, so it’s important to determine.
In order to find this information out, you may be able to look back at previous cases for the dealer to see when it was set up. The details on the case or the comments left by the person implementing them may explain what the setup was, or you may have to find out simply by investigating a few regular spots.
Pop-up on All Pages
This type of pop-up should be implemented in the footer of the site. To remove, simply navigate to the Snippets folder and find the Footer snippet. Inside the Footer snippet, there should be a spot near or at the bottom of the snippet that looks like this:
There may be multiple of these, so it’s important to click the “Edit Snippet” button to determine which one is the correct one. You are looking for one that, when opened, says “pop-up” or “pop-up-graphic” or some variation of the word pop-up.
Once you’ve found the correct snippet, DO NOT delete the name of the snippet out of this “Select macro” menu. Instead, close it out, and then click the “Delete” button next to the appropriate Snippet that contains the pop-up. It is crucial that you delete the snippet in the footer CONTAINING the pop-up, rather than deleting the pop-up OUT of the containing snippet or deleting/unpublishing the pop-up snippet itself. If you do the latter, an error text will appear in the footer because the containing snippet. It is crucial that you simply delete the containing snippet from the footer.
Once you’ve deleted that, make sure to Save & Publish the footer snippet, and you’re done! Pop-up removed.
Pop-up On Single Page
For pop-ups that are implemented on one page only, you will follow the same instructions as the section above, with the exception of where to find the snippet. This should be located on the bottom of the page in question (i.e. home, /new-rvs-for-sale, etc.).
For landing pages, this will be at the bottom of the Content area. This may be a little confusing for newer sites, as Sitesmith home pages are a bunch of Snippets in a row. For listing pages, this should be located in the Bottom List Blurb area.
Make sure you are double-checking that the snippet is a pop-up by clicking “Edit Snippet” and looking at the name before deleting!
