Time Off Expectations

Time Off Expectations

Please follow the guidelines here when requesting time off. This will ensure that you get the time off you want and much as possible and that we also have coverage as needed. Thank you!

  • Please ask off as far in advance as possible so I can guarantee you get your time. Generally, this system does have to be first come first serve for vacations etc, so the sooner you plan ahead and get your time in the better.

  • Please make sure you ask me about your time off (via Teams) and let me verbally approve it before putting it in officially!

  • Please make sure you put your time off on the RVPS calendar as soon as it’s approved, and make sure you are marking your time as “Free”, not “Busy” so that it won’t block off time on people’s calendars.

  • Please make sure you CHECK the RVPS calendar when making plans! It is difficult for the team to operate when there are more than two people out of office at the same time. I may have to ask you to adjust or compromise if you want to take off for something that is not an emergency if too many people are already out. I really don’t want to have to do that, hence the initial check!

  • If you are taking off for a long vacation, please try to keep your consecutive time off to around 3 weeks or under. This is especially true around the holidays as several other people will want to take off during this time.

  • I am happy to be flexible and work with you guys to ensure you get your time off and you get to have what you need for yourself and your family. Just please make sure you are communicating proactively with me in the process! That means taking the initiative to let me know what’s going on as soon as possible, and not waiting until the last minute.

  • And, of course, for sick days and emergencies, no need to get approval – please just keep me in the loop in regards to your needs (either via DM or in the general Teams chat) so I can redirect accordingly.
