Add Kenect Script

Add Kenect Script

Kenect is a common third party chat script that dealers use to allow them to directly chat with their customers. This article will cover what the script should look like and where to place it. (Kenect also has a separate script for embedding testimonials on a site. Information on that version can be found [HERE].)

Kenect Chat Script structure

A Kenect chat script should look like the following:

<script async src='https://bit.ly/#######' type='text/javascript'></script>

It should be a very short script, with a link to a bit.ly shortcut to the particular script for that dealer. The ####### area should contain a mix of 7 letters and numbers.

Adding the script

Once you’ve determined that the script you are trying to add is the correct one, you can add it to the site.

To add it to the site, all you’ll need to do is copy the script and paste it into the Footer Scripts box in the Developer tab of the domain node.

Confirming Installation

Finally, you should check the site to ensure that the chat script was successfully installed. If the script is functioning, you should see a small tab on the site that looks like this:

When installing on dev sites, occasionally this results in a wonky-looking version of this script. This is because the dev site is on an insecure server and Kenect is not compatible with that.
