Purpose

SOP was created for giving clear instructions on Setup and Implement the Dynamic Call Tracking conversion for SEM Clients.

Procedure

Inputs:

  • Access the SEO Dealerspike profile with the credentials provided in PasswordState.

If you do not have this profile ask your lead for credentials/access.


  • Access to ads.google.com and click in the the Sign in button in the top-right corner.

  • Select the Dealer Spike Google Ads Management account.


  • Look for the client’s account by clicking in the Google Ads Logo and typing the Account Name or Number

  • Now you are in the client’s acount at Google Ads

This guide was created with the New Google ads platform design. In case you’re seeing the old one, some resources may require a different route. If that’s the case, contact you manager.

  • Use the left side panel and click in Goals > Conversions > Summary, this will let you see the Conversions for this client.

  • Check if the client has a previous Dynamic Call Tracking conversion enabled (or disabled) by clicking the View all conversion actions option in the top-right corner of the Summary section and changing the Filtering by clicking Status: All next to the funnel icon.


If they have a Dynamic Conversion Tracking conversion already, skip Step 4

  • Click in the + button in the top-left corner or the conversions window.

  • Click on Phone Calls and then mark the Calls to a phone number on your website, then continue.

  • Fill each field as:

Conversion Name: Dynamic Call Tracking

Value: Use the same value for each conversion - $1 USD

Count: Every

Phone Number: Copy/Paste the phone number people see currently on the client’s Website.

Display number: Same as Phone Number.

Call lenght: 1 Second

Click-trough conversion window: 60 days (or higher available)

Attribution: Data-Driven

If the client has more than one Phone Number on their website, use either, the one listed for sales, or the one for the location with most inventory listed. Feel free to reach your manager.

  • Make sure the setup looks like this:

  • Once you have verified the setup is correct, click in the Tag Setup section

  • Select “Use Google Tag Manager” option.

  • This will open a textbox containing 2 lines of data (Conversion ID and Conversion Label)

Mak sure you’re using the same formatting convention for each field.

The sheet has a Conditional Formatting feature that will highlight or reject your input if it’s duplicated, if that’s the case, check previous record and make sure you’re not adding a duplicated/inactive account.

Outputs:

  • Google Ads and Google Analytics 4 properties connected with new conversions are ready for tracking.
