What are widgets? - Widgets are elements that can be embedded onto a web page. They can be informational only, such as providing hours of operation, or they can be used to start other operations, such as displaying the latest factory promotions.
What is the Widget Manager? - The Widget Manager is a tool used to manage the widgets that appear on your ARI website. You can change the widgets that appear on a specific page, as well as the location (order) of the widgets. You can also create layout themes that can be applied across multiple pages. There are five areas of widgets that can be managed for your ARI website (please note that the widgets available on your site will be dependent on the product package you have purchased).
What are the sections the widgets editor?
- Sidebar Widgets: All widgets that will appear on the sidebar of the your website. Typically this is located on the right side of your site, but in some special cases the sidebar widgets will appear on the left side of your website.
- Header Widgets: All widgets that will appear at the top of your website.
- Main Content Widgets: All widgets that appear in the main content area of your website.
- Footer Widgets: All widgets that will appear at the bottom of your website.
- Behind-the-Scenes Widgets: All widgets that are not visible on your website. These widgets would include tracking code such as Google Analytics.
What is a page layout? - A page layout is a display that can be applied across multiple pages on your website. Using the Widget Manager you can choose to have widgets display the same on all of your website pages, or you can apply a different layout theme to every page of you website. By default, you will have a Secure Layout for all of your pages with SSL encryption, and a Non-Secure Layout which contains all pages that do not have SSL encryption.
What happens if I delete a layout? - If you delete a layout, you will also delete both the page and widget configuration. Any pages currently assigned to the layout would revert back to the default layout (Secure Default Layout or Nonsecure Default Layout). To prevent accidental deletions, a pop up window will appear on all deletion attempts.
Why isn't a widget appearing on every page that I have applied it to? - There are certain widgets that only fit with certain pages on your website. Those widgets are marked as "Limited" and will only appear on the pages that they have been assigned to on your website.
