Overview
🎯 Objective
Web Tracking allows dealers to see where their leads have been on their website to help drive the conversation with their customers. Dealers will have to subscribe to Automated Email Marketing for this feature to work. If the Web Tracking data is available for the specific lead, a Web Tracking tab will display to the right of the Activities tab of the contact detail screen.
This is an add on service as a additional benefit to provide data to those dealers that are subscribed to AEM. By having the web tracking data to see where their customers have visited, this allows dealers/marketing to better target the automated email marketing, or help drive the conversation with the customers by understanding what they have looked at on the dealers website.
⚙️ How Does it Work
Through the AEM subscription setup process a script gets added on the dealers website that allows certain pages to be tracked by the PSM system. The script tracks users as unidentified users and assigns a deviceID to the unknown user. The script sees the unknown user viewing pages on the dealers website, but it does not offically officially know who that person is yet. There are two ways that the AEM The way that PSM can identify who those unknown users are through a form submittion submission on the dealers website, or through the AEM process when a user IRV sends that lead data to PSM, that contacts email gets on the PSM AEM email list, when that receives an AEM email and clicks a link to in the dealer website in an email from AEM, a user can then be identified and matched with a lead in the iCommand Center.Once the deviceID and a lead have been associated, this is known as "onboarding" the customer. After the clients have been onboarded in the AEM system the dealers iCommand Center can start displaying the web tracking data within the contact details screen. that clicking a link to go to the website “onboards” the contact in the PSM system allowing us to retrieve the Web Tracking data for those device IDs.
In the iCommand Center, when the Web Tracking tab is clicked, it makes an API call to PSM to get the tracking data. The web tracking data is not stored within the iCommand Center but it just displays the data that is stored in the PSM system.
The web tracking tab will display within the iCC on a contact detail page after the contact has been onboarded “onboarded” by PSM. A user can filter the AEM Click activities in their iCC, but do note that not all AEM Click events mean that the user clicked a link that took them into the dealers website, a click could be defined as a user clicking a link that takes them to an outside source such as Facebook, 3rd party link, or even clicked the unsubscribed link in the email. This means, even if the dealer filters their leads by AEM Clicked, it does not mean that all those leads clicked into their website.
Web Tracking data in iCommand Center only displays for the past 30 days, it does not display all the web tracking history of that lead from the beginning of time. If its past 30 days, it will display "No data available in table" in the Web Tracking tab.

📝 Additional Details
Data is not stored within iCC, we are simply making a an API call to the PSM platform where they send us the available data if there is any. We did this to limit our storage as all the data that we return would be a burden on the system to store all web tracking data for all clients and all leads.
